I had a great time at the Pub Crawl last night and had a great time with lots of shots of great costumes. Where else can you have a lot of fun, meet tons of people, have an excuse to wear/buy a holiday themed outfit and of course have it benefit the WestSide Food Bank.
I made this (click on youtube link) video with photos and a brief interview. The weather was PERFECT for a cool night out in Santa Monica and was very happy to be able to wear my favorite old blue sweater with cute mittens and hat that I got at Banana Republic years ago (what can I say but I take care of my stuff!). I saw a bunch of great costumes from living Christmas trees to a few attendees taking the pub crawl to Hanukkah! Take that Christmas!!! Hopefully next year I will see some Kwanzaa costumes … hmmm what would Kwanza look like? Isn’t it just a bunch of candles with green, red and yellow color scheme??? Hmm mildly interested but not enough to google it since I’m a Christmas, Santa Claus, Rudolph, Frosty, Grinch and Christmas Tree sort of girl!!!
I chose the Promenade Route because it has some of my favorite places in Santa Monica. West 4th and Jane, Wokcano and Harvelle’s that are more of my casual jean, older, chill and east coast transplant crowd. It’s sort of funny because every year I attend the SM Pub Crawl I’m reminded of how much I really like these places and need to go out more often in SM!!!
So don’t forget to mark your calendar to attend the Fourth annual 2012 Santa Monica Pub Crawl next year!!! THIS year I promise myself that I’m going to have a kick ass costume to wear that will make a huge splash!!!
3rd Annual 2011 Santa Monica Pub Crawl
It’s almost that time of year again—when the frost is on the vine, the stockings are hung by the chimney with care and the silver bells are ringing. Ok, who are we fooling? There is no frost in LA, we all live in apartments and our smartphone ringtones are the only things ringing, BUT each December we DO have the absolute-best-time-you-can-have-on-concrete-under-palm-trees… The 2011 SANTA Monica Pub Crawl is set for Saturday, December 17th!
Last year, over 3,000 of you bravely faced down the pouring rain and crawled your hearts out at 20 bars, raising over 4,000 lbs of food for the Westside Food Bank. That’s enough for 21,000 meals! Well, this year, we are working to make this the biggest and best SANTA Monica Pub Crawl ever with fun prizes and contests, all while helping the less fortunate put food on the table this Holiday Season. So, dust off those antlers, shine up those menorahs and get ready for the 3rd Annual SANTA Monica Pub Crawl!
We know that all of Santa’s Little Helpers out there can’t wait for the 2011 SANTA Monica Pub Crawl, and neither can we!
The 3rd Annual SANTA Monica Pub Crawl will take place on Saturday, December 17, 2011, at 5PM in Santa Monica, CA at the city’s best bars and restaurants to raise money for those in need during the holidays through a partnership with the Westside Food Bank. With your official SMPC wristband you will receive drink and food specials at the participating locations, entrance into the Official Pub Crawl After-Party and will automatically be entered into the pub crawl raffle with the chance to win a ton of great prizes.
All SMPC participants are asked to dress in Santa/Holiday attire, either individually or in teams, so that the streets of Santa Monica will be filled with merry cheer, such as: Santa, Mrs. Claus, Elves, Reindeer, Carolers and Santa’s Helpers. The Pub Crawl will feature multiple routes with bars on Wilshire, The Pier, 4th St., Third Street Promenade and Main Street and conclude with the Official After Party soon to be announced (must have wristband for access)
IMPORTANT UPDATE! Due to the crawlers overwhelming generosity last year, and a whopping 4,000 lbs of food brought to the starting locations, the Food Bank staff has asked that crawlers make a cash donation instead this year since the volunteers had a difficult time collecting the thousands of pounds of food.
Crawlers must Sign Up Online, Pay a $10 donation/entrance fee, Choose a Route and Collect their Wristband and Map at their official starting location.
