What I’m talking about
You have until September 23rd to submit an application for the STEM Challenge from Marvel to celebrate Thor: Ragnarok
This is an opportunity for science minded girls to show off STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) powers and win a trip to the world premier of Marvel Studios’ Thor: Ragnarok, a 3 day mentorship with Disney Imagineering and appear on Good Morning America! So get it girls! All you have to do is have a great idea to help others and shoot a demo video (follow the rules see below) with your STEM idea! I hope they show ALL the entries to see the face of science, technology, engineering and math!
GIRLS, SHOW US YOUR SUPERPOWERS!
Have you discovered the superpower of STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math)?
Can you imagine sharing your superpower of STEM on national television?
Girls ages 15-18, in grades 10-12, are encouraged to channel their superpower of STEM for a chance to win a trip to the world premiere of MARVEL STUDIOS’ THOR: RAGNAROK, an immersive three-day mentorship in New York City with Disney Imagineering, the opportunity to appear on Good Morning America, and more!
MARVEL STUDIOS’ THOR: RAGNAROK SUPERPOWER OF STEM CHALLENGE invites girls nationwide – just like you – ages 15 to 18 in grades 10 through 12, currently living in the 50 United States or the District of Columbia, to use the superpower of STEM for good by creating and sharing an original Do-It-Yourself project that could help your family, your community, or the world be safer, healthier, or happier. The project you make can be as simple or complex as you want. It can be something practical or something that would bring people joy – a robot, an app, a toy – anything that harnesses the superpower of STEM! You may create a new project or may submit an original project that had previously been developed for a class, for a science competition, or just for fun. Let your imagination and STEM skills run wild!
JUST FOLLOW THESE SIMPLE STEPS:
- Think of a Do-It-Yourself, demonstratable project that could be used for the good of others.
- Make your project.
- Create a 7-minute (or shorter) video in which you demonstrate your project and tell us how you used your superpowers of STEM to design and complete it.
- Go to MarvelStudiosSTEMChallenge.com to submit your application.
- Submit your 7-minute (or shorter) video.
FIVE (5) FINALISTS WILL BE SELECTED, AND EACH WILL:
- Receive an expenses-paid trip to Hollywood, California for the finalist and a parent or legal guardian.
- Have an opportunity to present her completed project in front of a panel of experts in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and/or math.
- Walk the red carpet at the premiere of MARVEL STUDIOS’ THOR: RAGNAROK.
One Grand Prize Winner will be selected from the five finalists to attend an immersive three-day mentorship in New York City with Disney Imagineering to build her STEM story, creating a professional level video teaching other young people how to recreate her Challenge winning project.
The Grand Prize Winner will also have the opportunity to demonstrate her Superpower of STEM project live to the Nation with a brief appearance on Good Morning America.
The video created during the Grand Prize Winner’s mentorship will be made available to students, teachers and families worldwide on the American Association for the Advancement of Science education resource website, ScienceNetLinks.com.
