Can I welcome Warner Bros. Home Entertainment to my adopted hometown of Washington, D.C. for the will present the World Premiere of “Batman: Gotham By Gaslight” on January 12, 2018

Warner Bros. This film puts the ‘after hours’ in this Dark Knight animated film by it being an 18+ screening so it’s not your Saturday morning cartoon Batman!

Warner Bros. Animation and DC Entertainment is going steampunk with the Dark Knight trying to end the terror of Jack the Ripper in Gotham City inspired by the one-shot Elseworlds tale by Brian Augustyn and Mike Mignola. The all new animated film will be available from Warner Bros. Home Entertainment on January 23, 2018, on Digital and February 6, 2018, on Blu-ray and DVD.

BATMAN: GOTHAM BY GASLIGHT — WORLD PREMIERE
The premiere event is for mature audiences 18 years of age or older. The evening will kick off with a cocktail reception prior to the screening — which will be followed with a Q&A session with the film’s voice cast and producers.

Preying on the city’s women, this killer is as precise as he is cruel. Witness a world in flames as the notorious serial killer’s controlled savagery meets the calculated stealth of the Dark Knight.

The voice cast also features Anthony Head (Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Merlin) as Alfred Pennyworth, Yuri Lowenthal (Batman Unlimited, Young Justice) as Harvey Dent, John DiMaggio (Futurama, Adventure Time) as Chief Bullock, William Salyers (Batman vs. Two-Face) as Hugo Strange, and Grey Griffin (DC Super Hero Girls) as Sister Leslie. Panels are an opportunity for fans to connect with their favorite creators. Los Angeles Comic Con took place on October 27-29 and offered dozens of panels for fans to attend when they were not walking the floor. The convention may have ended, but these panels left a lasting impression on me. Read more of this article »

I’m geek fangirling with the newest DC Comics Justice League moving premiering on DVD/BluRay/Digital HD on February 7th but if you are in Los Angeles or NYC you can enjoy a special viewing and Q&A with cast and producers. I grew up loving Justice League and have been very happy with the DC series. They can be a little dark and violent but since they are geared towards an older fan based the stories have some adult themes. I have also been incredibly impressed with the writing and direction of the films. They have taken classic characters we grew up with and have enriched the story as well as given them a more contemporary look and attitude to appeal to casual fans as well. Now that they have decided to ‘reboot’ Constantine and begin to bring him into the TV/Animation family it will give new fans of the character an opportunity to get to know him as well as old fans some major nerd love. I’m hoping to chat with Matt Ryan again since I interviewed him (and the cast) at SDCC for Constantine (NBC) a series that I feel did not get the time to find an audience that it deserved.

I’m so excited about the Justice League Dark that is the latest  DC Universe Original Movie that is premiering at The Paley Center for Media in Beverly Hills on January 23, 2017  and at the Director’s Guild of America in New York on February 2, 2017. Fans are able to attend the screening and stay for the filmmakers and members of the voice cast  post-screening panel discussion. Matt Ryan (Constantine, The Halcyon), the voice of Constantine, and Nicholas Turturro (NYPD Blue, Blue Bloods), the voice of Deadman, will attend both the Los Angeles and New York premieres and take part in the panel discussions along with supervising producer James Tucker, director Jay Oliva and character designer Phil Bourassa. Ray Chase (Final Fantasy XV videogame), the voice of Jason Blood/Etrigan, joins the World Premiere festivities in Los Angeles. Additional talent participating at the two premieres will be announced as confirmed.

Justice League Dark …

When innocent civilians begin committing unthinkable crimes across Metropolis, Gotham City and beyond, Batman must call upon mystical counterparts to eradicate this demonic threat to the planet. Enter Justice League Dark, reluctantly led by the Hellblazer himself, John Constantine. Like Batman, Constantine is a cunning, often cynical loner who is the best at his chosen profession – but quickly realizes the sinister forces plaguing the planet will require help from other supernatural alliances. Forming a new “league” with sorceress Zatanna, otherworldly Deadman, and Jason Blood and his powerful alter ego Etrigan the Demon, this team of Dark Arts specialists must unravel the mystery of Earth’s supernatural plague and contend with the rising, powerful villainous forces behind the siege – before it’s too late for all of mankind.

Latest DC Universe Original Movie to Debut in LA (1/23/17) and NYC (2/2/17);

Limited Free Tickets Available to Fans on First Come, First Served Basis

Both screenings will begin at 7:00 pm. The Paley Center for Media in Los Angeles is located at 465 North Beverly Drive in Beverly Hills. The Director’s Guild of America is located at 110 West 57th Street in New York City.

A limited number of free tickets are available to the general public. Please note that Justice League Dark is Rated R for “some disturbing violence.” Anyone under 17 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or adult guardian.

Fans wishing to receive free tickets to the Los Angeles event on January 23 must RSVP via email to JLDarkLA@gmail.com.

Fans wishing to receive free tickets to the New York event on February 2 must RSVP via email to JLDarkNY@gmail.com.

The body of all fan RSVP emails need ONLY include the (1) name of the entrant, (2) valid email address, and (3) name of the media outlet/website by which the entrant learned of the screening, and the number of tickets being requested (limit four per entry). The World’s Largest Retailer of Musical Instruments and Pro Audio Gear Teams with L.A.’s Very Own Pop Culture Extravaganza to Auction a Gibson Flying V – Signed by Stan Lee – With Proceeds Benefitting Boyle Heights Arts Conservatory

I LOVE how Stan Lee is giving back to the community this Sunday with a extra special auction benefiting the Boyle Heights Arts Conservatory! He recognizes the importance of giving kids the opportunity to be creative since with him we wouldn’t have comics/graphic novels as the art form we have today! This year Stan Lee’s ComiKaze Expo aka Stan Lee’s L.A. Comic Con has partnered with the Guitar Center and Gibson Guitars for a one of a kind collector item that will appeal to the fanboy/fangirl AND music lover in all of us with the one of a kind Gibson Flying V. I’m hoping to get a peek of this work of art before Sunday. If I do I’ll post it on twitter but no matter what grab your tickets and meet me at the LA Convention Center this Halloween Weekend and get your Boo on with kids of all ages and those of us who ‘kids at heart’!

The one of a kind electric guitar will be auctioned off by the Los Angeles Comic Con with all proceeds generated from the auction benefitting the Boyle Heights Arts Conservatory, a downtown Los Angeles center that teaches the comic arts free of charge to local youths.

“We are extremely thrilled to be joined by Guitar Center whose awesome contribution of a Gibson Flying V will serve to benefit an outstanding cause.  There are lots of musicians on the L.A. Comic Con team and they all regard Guitar Center as a home away from home for all of their musical and sound needs.  It will be a joy for all of us to work alongside Guitar Center to help benefit the Boyle Heights Arts Conservatory,” said Regina Carpinelli, President and Founder of Stan Lee’s Los Angeles Comic Con. “We are also really happy to have the chance to help expose future comic artists and comic lovers to the comics industry. “Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders is an excellent addition to the ever-growing canon of Batman entertainment, offering a fun, playful animated version of the character’s adventures,” said Mary Ellen Thomas, Warner Bros. Home Entertainment Vice President, Family & Animation Marketing. “Warner Bros. It’s back to the 1960s as Batman and Robin spring into action when Gotham City is threatened by a quartet of Batman’s most fiendish foes – Penguin, The Joker, Riddler and Catwoman. The four Super-Villains have combined their wicked talents to hatch a plot so nefarious that the Dynamic Duo will need to go to outer space (and back) to foil their arch enemies and restore order in Gotham City. It’s a truly fantastic adventure that will pit good against evil, good against good, evil against evil … and feature two words that exponentially raise the stakes for both sides: Replicator Ray. Holy Multiplication Tables!

I went to see Suicide Squad with very low expectations since I wasn’t impressed with most of the cast, am tired of the Joker/Batman/Superman and DC movies are uneven. I got my hopes a little bit at SDCC with all the fans excited about various characters from the film and all the fan experiences.

I was pretty spot on with my concerns from watching ads and reading about reshoots of the film after the dismal Batman vs Superman (if you want to have a movie about Batman and Superman fighting have a DAMN movie about them fighting smh). One of the first things I noticed and didn’t like is that the film is so dark even with the pop of candy color it just was so shadowy it was hard to make out the movie. The opening sequence didn’t pull me in and left me feeling and just wasn’t sticky so I’d like to say what I’D do if I were in charge of the movie/DC Films.

I would divide the film into 2 separate arcs. The first is showing why Amanda wanted to create the Suicide Squad and A.R.G.U.S. test capture of 3 metahumans. If I’d been writing the film it would have opened with some people being killed by a villain or even by a metahuman fighting a bad guy/gal and they would just be collateral damage and Amanda Wallis leading A.R.G.U.S. are unable to do anything. The next scene is the opening title/credits for the film with the comic book that has inspired the film. Amanda and her team are capturing metahumans and putting them in the bunker. They have a couple of lowlevel/weakones and after practicing they decide to grab a ‘big gun’. Amanda is in the war room with the ‘Most Wanted’ on the board decided who will be the first test of her men/women. She say’s first we grab Deadshot using the love of his child. Harley Quinn using her love of violence, sex and the Joker (he’s not on camera). The closing scene is the main gate closing of the facilities. Closing credits and than the scene opens with Amanda and the Generals in a skybox looking down at the prisoners using their powers. She says ‘their will always be metahumans wrecking havoc but we need our own to fight for humanity’. One general says ‘we can’t control these monsters’. Amanda smiles and opens a hand with a little pill and says ‘I’m always in control’. That’s the first film where humans go up against three bad guys/gals.

One of the residents of Apokolips, Granny Goodness is in charge of training (sometimes through brainwashing) new soldiers for Darkseid’s forces. She leads the Female Furies.

The second film would start with capturing the rest of the team with backstory and their first takedown as Suicide Squad of a better villain than the Enchantress and her bother . I would have loved ANY of these lesser villains that would have been hard to take down and were just visually more interesting. Also WHY did she shimmy while casting spells? I expected a pole to appear and 5 inch stripper heels to match the stripper outfit she had on to appeal to ‘fanboys’.

Grey Lora High ranking operative of the terrorist army Basilisk.

Artemis is the Shim’Tar (greatest warrior) of the Egyptian Amazons of Bana-Mighdall. For a short time, she also held the title of Wonder Woman.

Also the ‘big bad’ was a big boring snore and the fight scenes looked like a pretty

Agni was a member of the Jihad and had pyrokinetic abilities.

good video game but I don’t want to see a movie that looks like I could be playing it at home. I suppose my frustration is watching this film gave glimmers of what a blast it could have been but DC failed to make a good non Batman movie and is too busy playing catch up to Marvel that they are ignoring the incremental steps they took to introduce new characters and build up a world.
