But while the world prepares to witness the glittery glory of Gotham’s technological advances, there is a killer loose in the city’s darkest shadows. Preying on the city’s women, this killer is as precise as he is cruel. As Police Commissioner James Gordon tries to calm the fears of Gotham’s citizens regarding the butcher called Jack the Ripper, the masked vigilante Batman enacts his own detective work – with the help of confident, capable Selina Kyle – to stop the Ripper’s murderous spree. Witness a world in flames as the notorious serial killer’s controlled savagery meets the calculated stealth of the Dark Knight.

Acclaimed for his performance in Batman: Under The Red Hood, Bruce Greenwood (American Crime Story, Star Trek, iRobot) reprises his role as the voice of the Dark Knight in Batman: Gotham By Gaslight. Relive the 80s at the Paley Center for Media and celebrate The Goldbergs (ABC) on October 17, 2017 with a screening, panel conversation and audience Q&A with the cast and creative team.

Lea Thompson returns to direct the landmark episode, which will be Halloween-themed.

PaleyLive Fall 2017 season welcomes fans of the ABC series The Goldbergs. Fans of the series enjoy laughing on the series based on creator Adam F. Goldberg’s childhood memories from his families videotaped home movies. The series has delighted fans reliving their own memories and also showing current generation how people survived without a cellphone and twitter.

ABC’s The Goldbergs 100th episode will go where no series has gone before with the ultimate geek debate Star Trek vs Star Wars. The episode is called ‘Trek Wars’ and Adam (Sean Giambrone) is sure he’s found his soulmate in girlfriend Jackie (Rowan Blanchard), but he’s stunned when their first Halloween together reveals that she’s a Star Trek fan while he’s devoted to Star Wars. The ultimate geek dispute may be a hurdle their relationship cannot overcome.

The episode will be directed by Back to the Future alum Lea Thompson who returns to direct her second episode set to air Wednesday, Oct. 25, at 8 p.m. ET/PT.

“The Goldbergs perfectly captures those fun and crazy days of Pacman, big hair, and Rubik’s Cube,” said Maureen J. Reidy, the Paley Center’s President & CEO.  “This program promises to be an evening of nostalgia and laughter, and is one of the many reasons why PaleyLive programs are the premier experience for both the public and industry professionals.”

The Paley Center proudly welcomes the cast and creative team including: Wendi McLendon-Covey (“Beverly Goldberg”), George Segal (“Pops Solomon”), Sean Giambrone (“Adam Goldberg”), Haley Orrantia (“Erica Goldberg”), Troy Gentile (“Barry Goldberg”), Adam F. Goldberg (Creator and Executive Producer), and Doug Robinson (Executive Producer) for this special screening & conversation.

PaleyLive programs offer television fans the rare opportunity to engage with the cast and creative teams of their favorite programs in intimate settings held at The Paley Center for Media in Beverly Hills. screen-shot-2016-09-25-at-4-28-22-pmCelebrate National Coming Out Day with the cast and creators of the ABC comedy The Real O’Neals on October 11th with the PaleyLive LA Event. I have to say that I LOVE this series because I grew up as a good Catholic girl in the midwest and totally get this series. From the ‘I’m more Catholic than you’ rivalry between the mothers to everyone being ‘too polite’ so gossip is always said in a ‘I’m only concerned’.

When I learned of the series coming to ABC I m
ust admit I thought it would be lots of mean Catholic jokes that would offend my lapsed soul. Instead it’s a series about a good Catholic Boy  who happens to be gay and his close knit family navigating how they deal with it as they fall from the superior path. Every episode had me rolling with delight remembering our Monseigneur coming to my grandparent’s house for Sunday supper and prayer service with ‘select’ friends invited . Monseigneur Meinke LOVED my grandma’s cooking!

Even if you aren’t Catholic or gay this series handles some serious subjects with a light touch of humor carried off by a talented cast. They’ve managed to make me laugh with episodes dealing with crushes, first gay boyfriend, divorce, favorite child and the general chaos of a loving Catholic Midwest family!

I’m very excited that the cast and creatives are coming to the Beverly Hills Paley Center stage to screen the S2 premier and talk about the show. I’m hoping to cover the red carpet to ask a few questions about the series, how they found a home on ABC and clues for the upcoming season premiering October 11th.

Martha Plimpton, “Eileen O’Neal” Jay R. Ferguson, “Pat O’Neal” Noah Galvin, “Kenny O’Neal” Matt Shively, “Jimmy O’Neal” Bebe Wood, “Shannon O’Neal” Mary Hollis Inboden, “Aunt Jodi”  Executive Producers Casey Johnson, David Windsor & Stacy Traub

In conjunction with National Coming Out Day, The Paley Center for Media will present a special season two premiere event with the cast and creatives of ABC’s The Real O’Neals on Tuesday, October 11, 2016 at the Paley Center’s Beverly Hills location.

The PaleyLive LA program is open to the public and will feature a season two premiere screening, panel discussion, and interactive Q&A segment with the audience. The full panel event and clips from the program will be available to stream exclusively on Hulu at a later date. The panel conversation will also be added to the Paley Center’s LGBT Archive.

In season one of The Real O’Neals, the image-obsessed Irish-American Catholic mom (Martha Plimpton) makes every effort to hide her family’s troubles from public scrutiny, including a pending divorce and her teenage son’s recent coming out.

Tickets are currently on sale to Paley Supporting and Patron Members. Tickets go on sale to Paley Individual Members beginning Saturday, September 24 at 9:00am PT and to the General Public on Monday, September 26 at 9:00am PT. Participants are subject to change. Event ImageWho’s excited about the new fall series coming to Fox? MEEEEE

Well if you are a TV nut like myself and are in Los Angeles you can attend the PaleyFest with sneak previews of the first episodes of some of the shows that have fanboys and fangirls pretty excited. Fox is bringing a slate that will compliment returning series as well as bringing new fans to the network with a mix of original series and movies inspired by classic films. I’m very curious about Pitch a series created by Dan Fogelman & Rick Singer starring Kylie Bunbury who’s character is the first woman playing major league baseball breaking the glass baseball diamond. I’m planning to catch the first episode to support a series that reminds me of my beloved Sleepy Hollow (namely a lead black actress not that it’s supernatural mystery). The other series that fans get to have a panel is Lethal Weapon from a movie franchise from the 80’s that I never thought would be rebooted as a TV series. It’s starring Damon Wayans, Sr. and Clayne Crawford in a buddy cop series that has to walk a fine line between humor and gritty cop drama. Damon has come far from his days as a comic and has turned in good performances over the years so the question will be if the two guys have the chemistry necessary to make the show work. Now as a geek the series that has me salivating is Son of Zorn that will join my Sunday Fox animation domination. From the moment I saw the snippets at San Diego Comic Con I felt it was a great addition to Sundays! The voices are great and the mix of live action with animation looks like such fun! I was hoping they’d have a panel but hopefully I’ll see them at Wondercon or SDCC next year! The Exorcist is closing out the Fox night and am not a horror or exorcist fan I must admit I’ve never seen the movie or any real desire it looks horrifying! Sadly I won’t be covering the red carpet but plan to watch all of the new shows!

Are you heading to PaleyFest Fox Night? Let me know in the comments below what show you are looking forward to seeing this fall either a returning favorite or a new show!

I know I’m not the only fan of the Showtime series Ray Donovan that is a great blend of family and criminal drama. The characters are so well written that even though I should be hoping Ray goes to jail I can’t help but root for this fractured man. I am fascinated by the team behind the series that touches on so many points from being Catholic, child molestation and how it affects people into adulthood, a fractured marriage, the reality of a first generation family out of poverty and the interaction of working for rich people with an unacknowledged class distinction.

I’m very excited to hear that the Paley Center for Media is having a panel with the Ray Donovan stars and creative team on July 26th! If your a member you can purchase tickets before they go on sale to the general public! Don’t hesitate because this event WILL sell out!

Leave a comment below on what I should ask the stars and creative team on the red carpet at the Paley Center!

The Paley Center for Media is celebrating the life of Muhammad Ali

Muhammad Ali was the greatest who had a savvy understanding of how to market using TV as no other athlete had done before or have done since. A man who was more than an incomparable athlete but also an engaging activist that would not back down.

This is the opportunity to see four rare appearances from the Paley Archive that allows you to know him in his prime showcasing his influence on sports and culture.

ou will see footage of Ali’s achievements in the ring, notably his rivalry with Joe Frazier. You will also experience Ali’s eloquence and conscience in his 1969 conversation with William F. Buckley. The love that Ali generated is movingly on display during his fiftieth birthday, where such diverse celebrities as Whitney Houston, Billy Crystal, Howard Cosell, Wilma Rudolph, and Nelson Mandela pay tribute to the man who was indeed “The Greatest.”

This is an opportunity to see him in his prime where you’ll be able to hear his own words about his journey as a Black Man, an athlete, activist and Muslim before he became ill.

Muhammad Ali’s TV appearances show a natural telegenic skill that’s a play book for current celebrities but will they have the same timeless longevity?

Incomparable athlete and engaging activist, Muhammad Ali lived his triumphant life on television. We have selected four rare programs from the Paley Archive that exemplify Ali’s wide-ranging contribution to sports and culture and celebrate the life of “The Greatest.”
12:05 pm ESPN: Classic Battle Lines: Muhammad Ali vs. Joe Frazier I
This ESPN documentary provides a historical context for one of the greatest rivalries in sports, Ali versus Frazier. The program documents how the “Fight of the Century” came about in 1971. (50 minutes; 2002)
1:00 pm   Firing Line: Muhammad Ali
In a profoundly philosophical and emotional discussion with William F. Buckley, Muhammad Ali discusses his name change, his beliefs as a Muslim, and his dealing with the U.S. draft board. Few athletes have been so open about their religious and political beliefs. (53 minutes; 1969)
2:00 pm   Muhammad Ali: 50th Birthday Celebration
Muhammad Ali’s fiftieth birthday was a time of joyous celebration as celebrities gather to salute The Greatest. Among the copious highlights are Whitney Houston’s rendition of “The Greatest Love of All”; Billy Crystal’s routine about Ali and sportscaster Howard Cosell; gold medalist Wilma Rudolph talking about the 1960 Olympics; and Ella Fitzgerald escorted to stage by boxers Ken Norton and Joe Frazier. Also featured are the Four Tops, Dustin Hoffman, Hammer, Blair Underwood, and the Pointer Sisters. Ali’s reaction shots during the proceedings are priceless. (115 minutes; 1992)
4:00 pm   Outside The Lines: Muhammad Ali: Still The Greatest
Hosted by James Earl Jones, this ESPN documentary provides a nice overview to the public and private sides of Ali. The program deftly weaves rare footage with pertinent interviews with such personalities as Howard Cosell, Jim Brown, George Foreman, and Angelo Dundee. (48 minutes; 1994)

Outlander fans head to Beverly Hills for the upcoming costume and set design exhibition at the Paley Center (Beverly Hills) and for a lucky few press people they get an early peek!  I’m hoping to attend and speak with Terry Dresbach and Jon Gary Steele on how the costumes and set designs are able to transport people to another time and place. In attendance of the opening preview and panel will be stars Caitriona Balfe and Sam Heughan, Executive Producers Ronald D. Moore and Maril Davis and the panel will be moderated by Maureen Ryan, TV Critic, Variety.

I’ve spoke to fans of this beloved series inspired by Diana Gabaldon’s Outlander books and they are always ecstatic of how the TV series pays homage to her vision.

I had the pleasure to speak with Diana Gabaldon, Caitriona Balfe, Sam Geughan and Ronald Moore at SDCC last year. Fans were passionate about what was going on and looking forward to the new season as they explore Paris. I am very excited to see the costumes and set designs as a fashionista as well as a book lover. Often when we read the books we paint a picture in our minds of what it would look like in real life. When books are made into TV series at times fans get frustrated that it doesn’t live up to their imagination. But Terry and Jon Gary with the rest of the team have surpassed fans and kept them surprised and intrigued with the rich visual tapestry!

Now it’s LA’s turn to see the magic up close and personal thanks to Stars, Sony Picture Television and the Paley Center! Don’t forget to join the Paley Center for special membership benefits so that we can continue enjoying the history of television arts.

Terry Dresbach, Emmy-winning costume designer of the Starz and Sony Pictures Television series Outlander creations will transport you to 18th century Paris society!  has taken the beauty of 18th century Parisian society. The exhibit will include set pieces from Jon Gary Steele, production designer, episodic photography and behind-the-secedes video segments of this visually sumptuous series.

Outlander: After serving as a British Amy nurse in World War II, Claire Randall is enjoying a second honeymoon in Scotland with husband Frank, an MI6 officer looking forward to a new career as an Oxford historian. Suddenly, Claire is transported to 1743 and into a mysterious world where her freedom and life are threatened. To survive, she marries Jamie Fraser, a strapping Scots warrior with a complicated past and a disarming sense of humor. A passionate relationship ensues, and Claire is caught between two vastly different men in two inharmonious lives. “Outlander” is adapted from the best-selling books by Diana Gabaldon.
