Relive the 80s at the Paley Center for Media and celebrate The Goldbergs (ABC) on October 17, 2017 with a screening, panel conversation and audience Q&A with the cast and creative team.
PaleyLive Fall 2017 season welcomes fans of the ABC series The Goldbergs. Fans of the series enjoy laughing on the series based on creator Adam F. Goldberg’s childhood memories from his families videotaped home movies. The series has delighted fans reliving their own memories and also showing current generation how people survived without a cellphone and twitter.
ABC’s The Goldbergs 100th episode will go where no series has gone before with the ultimate geek debate Star Trek vs Star Wars. The episode is called ‘Trek Wars’ and Adam (Sean Giambrone) is sure he’s found his soulmate in girlfriend Jackie (Rowan Blanchard), but he’s stunned when their first Halloween together reveals that she’s a Star Trek fan while he’s devoted to Star Wars. The ultimate geek dispute may be a hurdle their relationship cannot overcome.
The episode will be directed by Back to the Future alum Lea Thompson who returns to direct her second episode set to air Wednesday, Oct. 25, at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
“The Goldbergs perfectly captures those fun and crazy days of Pacman, big hair, and Rubik’s Cube,” said Maureen J. Reidy, the Paley Center’s President & CEO. “This program promises to be an evening of nostalgia and laughter, and is one of the many reasons why PaleyLive programs are the premier experience for both the public and industry professionals.”
The Paley Center proudly welcomes the cast and creative team including: Wendi McLendon-Covey (“Beverly Goldberg”), George Segal (“Pops Solomon”), Sean Giambrone (“Adam Goldberg”), Haley Orrantia (“Erica Goldberg”), Troy Gentile (“Barry Goldberg”), Adam F. Goldberg (Creator and Executive Producer), and Doug Robinson (Executive Producer) for this special screening & conversation.
PaleyLive programs offer television fans the rare opportunity to engage with the cast and creative teams of their favorite programs in intimate settings held at The Paley Center for Media in Beverly Hills. All PaleyLive programs are selected by the Paley Center to not only expand society’s understanding of the cultural, creative, and social significance of television, but also for their ability to educate and entertain the public.

I’m a huge fan of ABC Studios, and Twentieth Century Fox Television’s Speechless it’s a show that represents the challenge of a family struggling to live in a neighborhood to offer the best to their kids. The portrayal of JJ DiMeo by Micah Fowler that shows a HS kid living his life and not allowing anyone to stand in front of his wheels! Out of the entire family I must admit I want to hang with JJ and not just to cut in line <guffaw>. The Paley Center will host Minnie Driver (Maya DiMeo); John Ross Bowie (Jimmy DiMeo); Mason Cook (Ray DiMeo); Micah Fowler (JJ DiMeo); Kyla Kenedy(Dylan DiMeo); Cedric Yarbrough (Kenneth); Scott Silveri, Creator & Executive Producer; Melvin Mar, Executive Producer; and Jake Kasdan, Executive Producer; for a premiere screening and conversation.

Paley Center is offering a first look AND talk with the talent and team behind the upcoming three hour filmed musical event that will be produced by Lionsgate and Allison Shearmur Productions. We get to see the romance of Frances ‘Baby’ Houseman and Johnny Castle during a summer vacation in the Catskills that I think will have all of us singing the songs from the original movie and era. Those lucky enough to score tickets to the premier screening will have a chance to hear from Abigail Breslin, Bruce Greenwood, Nicole Scherzinger, Colt Prattes, and Katey Sagal just before the ABC Television Network TV premiere on May 24.
