Los Angeles Comic Con took place on October 27-29 and offered dozens of panels for fans to attend when they were not walking the floor. The convention may have ended, but these panels left a lasting impression on me. Read more of this article »

I’m so excited that Legion M is giving fangirls/fanboys the opportunity to win a film & TV development deal at this weekend Stan Lee’s L.A. Comic Con.
You may not know Legion M but it’s the first fan-owned entertainment company and it’s about making content that FANS want to see not just the money crunchers running Hollywood <my opinion> who make the same comic book movies over and over again!
So if your in Los Angeles head to the convention center and PITCH FOR YOUR LIFE well not life they won’t introduce you to Lucille (TWD) or the horrors of the Red Wedding (GOT) but it will get your geek senses tingling! BUT if your not in LA they also are allowing fans to submit pitch ideas online!x
Legion M’s panel of industry insiders and executives are going to reward someone with $4,000 in cash prizes and a development deal with Legion M that could be worth $15,000 to fund the movie/TV show!
I know what I want to pitch but what about you???? Will I see you in the elevator? Leave a comment below ….
For those pitching on-site, Legion M has built a full-size elevator set where pitches will be recorded to potentially be a part of the Pitch Elevator TV pilot. Online submissions will also be accepted for consideration through the Legion M website from October 28 to November 28.
The Legion M Pitch Elevator is the next step in the company’s goal to open the gates of Hollywood by giving fans the opportunity to be a part of the content they love.
Here’s how it works:
1. Prepare a pitch of up to 2 minutes for your movie or TV idea.
2. Join Legion M at Stan Lee’s Los Angeles Comic Con to make your pitch inside the Pitch Elevator movie set, and be a part of our TV series pilot!
3. If you can’t make it person, record a 2-minute video of your pitch and submit online.
4. Once all the pitches are collected, staff, members and shareholders of Legion M will judge and select finalists.
5. 10 finalists will receive a $250 cash prize and a chance to pitch their idea to a panel of Hollywood agents and executives. One grand prize winner will receive $1,500 in cash and a development deal with Legion M that guarantees $15,000 if their project gets made!

The World’s Largest Retailer of Musical Instruments and Pro Audio Gear Teams with L.A.’s Very Own Pop Culture Extravaganza to Auction a Gibson Flying V – Signed by Stan Lee – With Proceeds Benefitting Boyle Heights Arts Conservatory
All music-loving attendees of Stan Lee’s Los Angeles Comic Con will be heading to the Main Stage of the Los Angeles Convention Center on Sunday, October 30 at 3:00 PM where one lucky convention-goer will become the owner of a Gibson Flying V signed by Stan Lee – all courtesy of the Los Angeles Comic Con and Guitar Center.
The one of a kind electric guitar will be auctioned off by the Los Angeles Comic Con with all proceeds generated from the auction benefitting the Boyle Heights Arts Conservatory, a downtown Los Angeles center that teaches the comic arts free of charge to local youths.
Boyle Heights Arts Conservatory (BHAC) is dedicated to helping young people explore careers in Film, Television, Broadcasting, Digital and the Creative Arts industries. BHAC works to create career pathways for ages 6-22, to develop the next generation of leaders in these fields and create an economic equity for our most underserved.
“We are extremely thrilled to be joined by Guitar Center whose awesome contribution of a Gibson Flying V will serve to benefit an outstanding cause. There are lots of musicians on the L.A. Comic Con team and they all regard Guitar Center as a home away from home for all of their musical and sound needs. It will be a joy for all of us to work alongside Guitar Center to help benefit the Boyle Heights Arts Conservatory,” said Regina Carpinelli, President and Founder of Stan Lee’s Los Angeles Comic Con. “We are also really happy to have the chance to help expose future comic artists and comic lovers to the comics industry. These young Los Angelenos are the future of this business.”
“Guitar Center is pleased to partner with Stan Lee’s Los Angeles Comic Con Expo to help benefit such a worthy cause,” said Brian Berman, Vice President of Marketing at Guitar Center. “We’re looking forward to a phenomenal turnout for the auction and we appreciate the opportunity to support the Boyle Heights Arts Conservatory and their mission to remove barriers and create pathways for artists to continue their craft.”

This year it is taking place September 8-13 in Beverly Hills (465 N. Beverly Drive, Beverly Hills, CA 90210). For those of you that don’t know what PaleyFest is, it’s a week long festival that features premiere screenings and panel conversations with stars from upcoming Fall TV shows. Past events have featured hit shows including Black-ish, Jane the Virgin, Scandal, and Arrow. The Paley Center in New York will host a free PaleyFest screening September 10-11. The line up for this year’s PaleyFest offers peeks into new shows like Notorious, Pitch, No Tomorrow, and Frequency. Some panelists featured are Mandy Moore, Damon Wayans, Sr., and Dermot Mulroney. I’m very excited for to see Frequency. Frequency is set to air October 5 on The CW. I’m also interested in upcoming FOX show Pitch. It’s about a young female pitcher becoming the first woman to play in Major League Baseball for the San Diego Padres. The annual MTV Fandom Award show is airing July 24 8/7 C time in San Diego. It’s an award show that gives fangirls and boys the chance to vote for the best fandoms and best ships. Some of the categories are Ship of the Year, Animation Fandom of the Year, and Bandom of the Year.
I of course am very excited for the Ship of the Year category because I am a huge shipper, I ship everyone and everything. For people who don’t know what shipping is, shipping is when you want two or more people to end up together canon or noncanon. Sadly, my all time favorite ship, Kylux, is not featured, but Stormpilot is so that makes up for the lost. But there are other exciting categories; even Jon Snow’s resurrection is featured along with Han Solo’s death (sad face).
MTV Fandom Awards Categories
Animation Fandom of the Year:
- Adventure Time
- Gravity Falls
- Inside Out
- Steven Universe
- Rick and Morty
Bandom of the Year
- The 1975
- All Time Low
- Pierce the Veil
- Twenty One Pilots
- Panic! at the Disco
Fan Freakout of the Year
- Game of Thrones: Resurrection of Jon Snow
- Mr. Robot: Mr. Robot revealed
- Walking Dead: Glenn’s Death Scare
- Star Wars: The Force Awakens: Death of a Legend
- Pretty Little Liars: Spence and Caleb Hook Up
- The 100: RIP Lexa
Best New Fandom of the Year
- Jessica Jones
- Mr. Robot
- Suicide Squad
- Shadowhunters: the Mortal Instruments
Best Revival Fandom of the Year
- Fuller House
- Gilmore Girls
- Harry Potter
- High School Musical
- The X-Files
Ship of the Year
Fandom of the Year
- Teen Wolf
- Maze runner: The Scorch Trials
I have casted my votes already. Hopefully Teen Wolf will win Fandom of the Year even though Supernatural is in the lead.
If you want to vote you can click this link http://www.mtv.com/fandom-awards/vote/animation-fandom-of-the-year/ but for certain categories you have to post on Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, or Tumblr. But that is for the big categories like Fandom of the Year or Ship of the Year.
Make sure to vote for your fandom before it’s too late. It’s time to prove that your fandom is truly the best.

Are you a Star Wars loving lego enthusiast? Well Disney XD’s new animated television show, LEGO Star Wars: The Freemaker Adventures, is the show for you. It’s a 22 minute series voiced by Vanessa Lengies, Nicolas Cantu, Eugene Byrd, and Matthew Wood.
The Freemakers gives the audience a new story focused on a scavenger family, the Freemakers. They are a family of three, and the youngest member, Rowan, is extremely strong with the force. As many fans of the infamous series know, when a character is strong with the force the audience can expect multiple hi jinxes. It’s a new story, that doesn’t feature Leia and Luke Skywalker as the main protagonists. But original fan favorites are still featured; Luke and Leia made their first appearance in episode 5 and Darth Vader and Darth Sidious, formerly Palpatine, made their first appearance in episode 1.
The Freemakers salvage parts from destroyed or abandoned ships and use the parts to create new ones, that they then sale to earn a living. But when Rowan discovers an ancient artifact, the Kyber Saber, he discovers his connection to the force. He is then mentored by a seemingly good-intentioned jedi named Naare. This scavenger family is now in the middle of the battle between the Galactic Empire and Rebel Alliance. As there is a search for the Kyber Saber crystals where good and bad are compete to find the crystals. And all is not as it seems.
This show is very interesting and it captivates the audience’s attention from the first scene. All in episode one the viewer will discover so much, and there are multiple introductions of characters, ships, and themes. All in episode one the viewer will discover that Naare doesn’t have good intentions with Rowan and is actually with the Empire.
Overall this a great show and the visuals are what the audience should expect from a lego based television show. It stays true to what is expected from a show with such a strong fan base, it introduces new and old characters that viewers will come to love.
The next episode airs July 18 on Disney XD at 10:00 AM.

Hey Cherry Los Angeles readers! I’d like to formally introduce myself. My name is Anna Ogunkunle, pronounced oh-gön-cön-lay. My research interests include the representation of women of color in film and television, award shows, and international cinema. I spend way too much of my free time on Netflix and Hulu. I’m a huge Marvel Comics fan. The only love I give to DC Comics is for Batman. Besides Batman, no one can convince me to like DC Comics. I like to read when I have time, explore L.A., spend time with my family and friends, and travel. Make sure to follow me on Twitter at AnnaO_93. I try my best to tweet and I’ll be live tweeting some of the PaleyFest LA panels.

Tonight is the Los Angeles premiere of Batman: Bad Blood (clip)!
I am looking forward to interviewing the entire Bat “family” on the red carpet — Jason O’Mara (Batman), Yvonne Strahovski (Batwoman), Sean Maher (Nightwing), Gaius Charles (Batwing) and Stuart Allan (Robin) — along with Travis Willingham (voice of The Heretic) and filmmakers: producer James Tucker, director Jay Oliva and character designer Phil Bourassa at the Paley Center for Media (465 North Beverly Drive) as well as seeing the screening at 7pm! I’ll post my interviews on Cherrylosangles @youtube
About Batman: Bad Blood …
The mysterious disappearance of Batman (voice of Jason O’Mara), coupled with the emergence of powerful and malevolent new villains in Gotham City, force Nightwing (Maher) and Robin (Stuart Allan) to take crime-fighting into their own hands – while simultaneously searching for their missing leader. They’re not alone for long. New super heroes Batwoman (Strahovski) and Batwing (Gaius Charles) – each armed with her/his own sensibilities, physical abilities and crime-fighting tools – arrive in Gotham to assist in the cause. As this new “family” strives to find its own dynamic, chilling clues lead the group to suspect the Dark Knight may have gone over to the dark side. It’s up to the entire Bat team to uncover the truth before Gotham City falls prey to its greatest threat yet.
Produced by DC Entertainment and Warner Bros. Animation, Batman: Bad Blood will be distributed by Warner Bros. Home Entertainment on Blu-ray, DVD and Digital HD on February 2, 2016.

I used to bullseye womp rats in my T-16 back home. They’re not much bigger than two meters. – Luke, Star Wars: Episode IV A new Hope
Better keep Luke away from the new Star Wars Death Star Grill available for pre-order from TheFowndry for £99.99 (estimate $142.54 US) or he just might blow it up with a few of his rebel pals! <guffaw> This grill is for the carnivore AND vegetarian grill fan or just a Star Wars fanboy/fangirl that must own a Death Star the can fit in your home or apt patio area. I’ve gone to the dark side for the Star Wars Half Marathon on January 17th in Anaheim next weekend and am sharked that I’m all about Darth Vader! If you plan to do the run next weekend make sure that you check out the REVISED RunDisney rules as far as cosplay goes because (I’m sad to say) no super fun costumes this year . So to stay on the safe side I will not be going as a Jedi or as Endor (no Ewoks for YOU) and had looked at some running pants that were printed but I’m frugal so didn’t want to spend too much money for items that would be too distracting at the gym. I decided going all black would be a good compromise to my not being able to wear Jedi robes. I am a bit curious about rather anyone will try to wear a full outfit but I won’t take a chance. I am very disappointed since a big part of the fun is seeing all of the other fans dress up in cosplay as you run or walk (or in my case) around Disney in the dark with all the rides lit up. It’s quite the sight and is enough to make anyone’s tiny little grinch heart grow three times as you walk around the park!
What are you doing to comply with the new rules? Let me know!
