Everything is fun and games till the sharks turn on you! <guffaw> I must admit I LOVED Deep Blue Sea when I saw it with friends at the Cinemadome and we laughed like hyenas! It was and still is the funniest horror movie I’ve ever seen so let me be the first to say … am ready to watch this with a bowl of hot buttered popcorn and a soda (no brand preference).

Has humanity learned nothing about making sharks super smart? What next giving them legs so they can terrorize us on land next (just kidding sharks rarely attack humans)? Well it looks like we haven’t because a new mad genius has decided to improve on the sea killing machines that haven’t changed all that much since the time of dinosaurs.  Deep Blue Sea 2 will be released on April 17, 2018 on Blu-ray™ Combo Pack ($24.98 SRP), DVD ($19.98 SRP) and Digital. The Blu-ray™ Combo Pack features the film in hi-definition, a standard definition DVD and a digital version of the film and will be rated R for gore, violence, language and general mayhem!

Deep Blue Sea 2, shark conservationist Dr. Misty Calhoun (Danielle Savre) is invited to consult on a new, top secret project run by pharmaceutical billionaire Carl Durant (Michael Beach). She believes the project, performed at a remote, sea-based facility, focuses on extracting shark antibodies to help work toward cures for human diseases. However, Dr. Calhoun is shocked to learn that the company is using unpredictable bull sharks as its test subjects, and Durant has bio-engineered a shiver of highly intelligent, super-aggressive bull sharks. When science meddles with the time-tested process of nature and nurture, the outcome can be deadly. The film is directed by two-time Independent Spirit Award nominee Darin Scott (Menace II Society, To Sleep With Anger), and written by Hans Rodionoff (Lost Boys: The Tribe) and award-winning writing partners Jessica Scott & Eric Patterson (Another Cinderella Story). Tom Keniston (Sophia Grace & Rosie’s Royal Adventure) serves as executive producer, and Tom Siegrist (Santa’s Little Helper, The Exorcism of Molly Hartley) is the film’s producer.

Rounding out the cast are Danielle Savre (Heroes, Boogeyman 2) in the lead role of shark conservationist Dr. Misty Calhoun; Rob Mayes (John Dies at the End, Mistresses) as Trent Slater, a highly decorated ex-Navy SEAL; and Michael Beach (Third Watch, The 100, upcoming Aquaman) as Carl Durant, a big pharma billionaire with questionable ethics. Rounding out the cast is Nathan Lynn (Outlander) as tech expert Aaron Ellroy, Kim Syster (Sterlopers) as neurobiologist Leslie Kim, and Jeremy Jess Boado (House Party: Tonight’s the Night) as clinical neurophysiologist Daniel Kim.

Deep Blue Sea 2 is a true sequel, staying within the mythology of the original film, and taking the next step in the evolution of the sharks … and their human counterparts,” said Mary Ellen Thomas, WBHE, Vice President, TV Marketing, Family & Animation. “This time, there’s more perspective from the sharks, giving greater personality to the ‘villains’ in this film. It’s a thrill ride that will keep the audience guessing throughout.”

Amanda Walker is leading our favorite villains for a mayhem filled action packed secret mission in the upcoming Suicide Squad: Hell to Pay. The latest DC Universe movie will be released starting March 27, 2018 on digital and on Ultra HD Blu-ray™ Combo Pack, Blu-ray™ Combo Pack and DVD April 10, 2018. the animated film will be rated R for strong bloody violence throughout, sexual content, brief graphic nudity, and some drug material. It is the Suicide Squad so I expect it to be at the same level of violence and mayhem as well as appealing to the same audience as the live action film. It looks like loads of grownup/older teen fun with characters that some non comic book reading fans will be meeting for the first time.

Suicide Squad: Hell to Pay finds Amanda Waller’s top secret “Task Force X” – Deadshot, Bronze Tiger, Killer Frost, Captain Boomerang, Harley Quinn and Copperhead – on a mission to retrieve a mystical object so powerful that they’re willing to risk their own lives to steal it. But the Suicide Squad isn’t the only group of villains seeking to possess the object. The race is on for the golden prize … and, to stay alive, second place isn’t an option.

Suicide Squad: Hell to Pay is a definite thrill ride for fans, mixing non-stop action with plenty of humor – all while watching villains go head-to-head with villains,” said Mary Ellen Thomas, Warner Bros. Home Entertainment Vice President, Family & Animation Marketing. “This film has an all-star cast, an extremely accomplished filmmaking team, and the perfect mix of excitement and fun. We’re proud to bring Suicide Squad: Hell to Pay to audiences this spring.”

I am so excited about the cast for the new new animated film heroes to villains and everyone in between it’s a who’s who of actors and voice actors that we all know! This will be the first time Christian Slater (Mr. Robot, Archer, True Romance) joins the DC Universe Movies where he will be the voice of Deadshot, who heads “Task Force X” alongside Billy Brown (How To Get Away With Murder) as Bronze Tiger, Liam McIntyre (Spartacus: War of the Damned, The Flash) as Captain Boomerang, Kristin Bauer van Straten (True Blood, Once Upon a Time) as Killer Frost, Gideon Emery (Teen Wolf) as Copperhead, Tara Strong (Batman: The Killing Joke) as Harley Quinn and their “boss,” Vanessa Williams (Ugly Betty, Desperate Housewives) as Amanda Waller. Villainous forces in the film include C. Thomas Howell (Outcast, The Outsiders, Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox) as Zoom, Dania Ramirez (Devious Maids, Heroes, Once Upon a Time) as Scandal Savage, James Urbaniak (Difficult People, The Venture Bros.) as Professor Pyg, Julie Nathanson (The Zeta Project, Beverly Hills 90210) as Silver Banshee and Jewelee, and Jim Pirri (Injustice 2) as Vandal Savage & Vertigo. Rounding out Suicide Squad: Hell to Pay are Greg Grunberg (Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Heroes) as Steel Maxum, Dave Fennoy (Batman: Arkham Knight, Batman: The Telltale Series) as Blockbuster & Tobias Whale, Cissy Jones (Firewatch) as Knockout, Natalie Lander (The Middle, Justice League Action) as Darma, Trevor Devall (Johnny Test) as Punch, Dave Boat (Family Guy, The Good Dinosaur) as Harvey Dent/Two-Face, and Matthew Mercer (Critical Role, Batman: Bad Blood) as Savage Gunman.

The animated film has Sam Liu, Producer/Director (Gotham by Gaslight, Teen Titans: The Judas Contract) with co-producer Alan Burnett (Justice League vs. Teen Titans) who wrote the script and Sam Register and James Tucker (Batman vs. Two-Face, Justice League Dark) who are Executive Producers.

I’m ready to be scared with the release of Tales of Halloween September 13th on Blu-Ray and DVD Collector’s set. The horror anthology film was released to theaters and VOD last Halloween 2015 with an all-star lineup of directors and stars. Ghosts, ghouls, monsters, and the devil delight in terrorizing unsuspecting residents of a suburban neighborhood on Halloween night. The all-star directorial lineup includes Neil Marshall (Game of Thrones, The Descent, Lost in Space), Darren Lynn Bousman (Saw 2, 3, 4), Lucky McKee (The Woman, All Cheerleaders Must Dies), and Mike Mendez (Gravedancers, Big Ass Spider!). Cameos by horror heavyweights such as Barry Bostwick (The Rocky Horror Picture Show), Lin Shaye (Insidious), John Savage (The Deer Hunter), Adrienne Barbeau (The Fog), John Landis (Director of Animal House), Joe Dante (Director of Gremlins), Barbara Crampton (Re-Animator, We Are Still Here), Booboo Stewart (Twilight), Keir Gilchrist (It Follows), Grace Phipps (Fright Night), Pat Healy (Cheap Thrills), Kristina Klebe (Rob Zombie’s Halloween), Greg Grunberg (Heroes, Star Wars), Alex Essoe (Starry Eyes), Pollyanna McIntosh (The Woman), and more.

“the best horror anthology since Trick ‘r Treat”
 – Fangoria

“among the Best Halloween-themed horror movies ever made”

This is a major treat or trick <guffaw> for horror fans that love the more classic look that reminds me of the movies I grew up being terrified of! This has to be added to any fans home collection with added bonus that include a short student film by Neil Marshall (the Descent, Lost in Space), a CD of the film’s soundtrack, never seen before short films from the directors, video diaries and interviews from the directors, cast and crew with sneak peeks of the set behind-the-scenes. Plus deleted scenes, commentaries and photo galleries!

It should be around $35 and can be pre-ordered www.talesofhalloweenmovie.com here and on Amazon.com.

BIG HEROES! BIG VILLAINS! AND BIGGER ADVENTURES this week, Share Your Universe with a brand new episode of MARVEL’S HULK AND THE AGENTS OF S.M.A.S.H. this Sunday at 8:00am/7:00c inside the Marvel Universe on Disney XD.

I’d like to introduce you to ….

"Spirit of Vengeance," is the first time fan-favorite Ghost Rider appears on Marvel's Hulk and the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

“Spirit of Vengeance,” is the first time fan-favorite Ghost Rider appears on Marvel’s Hulk and the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

I’ve always had a soft spot for Ghost Rider because of my Harley Davidson motorcycle love. It’s one of the characters that is visually so interesting and different than most Marvel characters. Now is your chance to see how he looks on the Disney XD series MARVEL’S HULK AND THE AGENTS OF S.M.A.S.H. Of course he’ll have the chain, the motorcycle, likely no helmut but his head is a skull so it’s OK! I find the S.M.A.S.H. team fascinating since it’s all the Hulks I grew up including the Hulkette aka She-Hulk (who’s a great female character with a rich backstory). Get up early or DVR the new episode tomorrow, Sunday, June 14th 8am/7c on Marvel Universe Disney XD ‘Spirit of Vengeance’ where Hulk clashes with Ghost Rider who want to make Red & Abomination pay for their past bad behavior!

Watch as Hulk attempts to save Red from the Ghost Rider!

While escorting Abomination to stand trial for his crimes, the Hulks runs into Ghost Rider, who has come to make both Abomination and Red atone for the wrongful deeds of their past in an all-new MARVEL’S HULK AND THE AGENTS OF S.M.A.S.H. airing Sunday, June 14 at 8:00am/7:00c in the Marvel Universe on Disney XD.

NBC is going back to 2006 with their hit science fiction drama Heroes coming back for a mini-series in 2015.  Is NBC adding to its geek program and testing the waters with a fan favorite?

All the other networks have been garnering major success with science fiction shows from CW (which I call the new Sci Fi teen network) to ABC using their own fairy tale archives to reboot fantasy on the small screen.   But NBC was the network that I grew up watching with science fiction action and comedies that kept me tuning in every week.  I may not be the perfect person pondering this new extension of (what I’m sure they are hoping will be their own Star Trek) since I never found Heroes very appealing.  I think the tagline ‘Save the Cheerleader’ left me super cold because of my being a major nerd wallflower in high school so unpopular I didn’t even get teased (totally invisible).   I had friends who LOVED the show even those who had never given a thought to any of the Star Trek series, seen Blakes 7 and thought Doctor Who was a medical drama (the horror).  Since the show  is coming back I’ll have to watch old episodes to see if I want to jump on the heroes train since I have a suspicion it will be one wild ride especially with NBC’s plans to have a digital series.  I’ve watched a couple of their online series and they are always a great way to enrich the broadcasts.
