OSCAR®-WINNING ANIMATION STUDIO LAIKA COMES TO SAN DIEGO FOR PRIDE AND COMIC-CON CELEBRATIONS JULY 14-23, 2017 with the Laika Experience Pop Up Exhibit. Fans will be able to see props, puppets, monsters and sets from Kubo and the Two Strings, The Boxtrolls, ParaNorman & Caroline. A signing with Travis Knight, Laika President & CEO, an exhibit of fan art, interactive experiences, photo ops, daily giveaway (pair of EXCLUSIVE LAIKA Nikes) and a shop with merchandise that you can take home! The pop up opens Friday, July 14th for San Diego Pride!!!!

Saturday–Sunday, July 15-16 from 11 AM – 6:00 PM:
Watch for LAIKA walkaround costumed characters at the LAIKA GIF Photo Booth inside the gates of Balboa Park during the PRIDE Festival. Pose for a photo with ParaNorman’s “Mitch,” the first gay character ever featured in an animated film. Customized LAIKA headbands will be distributed.

Facebook Live/Media Partner WIRED Magazine: LAIKA President & CEO Travis Knight (director of Kubo and the Two Strings) will be joined by New York Times bestselling author Tony DiTerlizzi (The Spiderwick Chronicles; Star Wars: Luke Skywalker, Jedi Knight) for a Facebook Live tour of The LAIKA Experience. Travis will share LAIKA’s unique creative process with Tony as they take FB guests on a virtual tour of the pop up exhibit. Fans will be able to ask questions via facebook.com/WIRED.

Come for a chance to meet Travis Knight, President & CEO of LAIKA and director of Oscar®-nominated KUBO AND THE TWO STRINGS, at an autograph signing session of items purchased at the Pop Up. Autographs of merchandise (available at the Pop Up Shop in the Exhibit) will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. This is Mr. Knight’s only public appearance during the Exhibit.

Film Independent Project Involve Program Announces the
LAIKA Animation Fellowship for Emerging Filmmakers

Emerging filmmakers with a focus in animation and who come from diverse backgrounds and communities underrepresented in film and television are invited to apply.
Along with a select group of 25-30 rising film professionals, the chosen Fellow will participate in Project Involve, a nine-month Lab comprised of mentoring, workshops, short film production experience and opportunities to connect with working artists throughout the year.
The 2017 LAIKA Animation Fellowship will provide the selected filmmaker with a $10,000 grant.
The Project Involve program takes place from October to June, culminating in a showcase of the collaborative short films at the LA Film Festival.
