STAR TREK: DISCOVERY GALLERY TAKEOVER
Thursday, July 20 to Sunday, July 23
CBS is creating a fully immersive Discovery experience at the Michael J. Wolf Fine Arts Gallery (363 Fifth Avenue); Comic-Con badges are not mandatory for entry. The exhibit will feature the debut of – and a photo opportunity with – the U.S.S. Discovery captain’s chair and will showcase additional props, costumes, sketches and more from Discovery. One thousand fans each day will receive complimentary limited-edition Discovery posters, and the location will also house an official Star Trek Shop with items exclusive to Comic-Con.
“MEET STARFLEET” STAR TREK: DISCOVERY PANEL
Saturday, July 22 at 2:30pm in Ballroom 20
Over 50 years ago, the world was first introduced to what would quickly become a cultural phenomenon. Star Trek was a television series that inspired developments in science and technology, broke social barriers, and transported viewers around the globe to new adventures and uncharted frontiers. This fall, Star Trek: Discovery follows the voyages of Starfleet on their missions to discover new worlds and new life forms, while learning that to truly understand all things alien, you must first understand yourself. Join cast members Sonequa Martin-Green, Jason Isaacs, Doug Jones, Shazad Latif, Mary Wiseman, Anthony Rapp and James Frain, alongside executive producers Alex Kurtzman, Gretchen J. Berg, Heather Kadin, Aaron Harberts and Akiva Goldsman for a conversation and introduction to Discovery.
The panel will be moderated by series guest star Rainn Wilson, who is set to play Harry Mudd, the charismatic conman and intergalactic criminal first introduced in Star Trek: The Original Series.
STAR TREK: DISCOVERY PEDICABS
Thursday, July 20 to Sunday, July 23
Fans can get free “intergalactic” rides throughout the Gaslamp District in pedicabs inspired by the design of the U.S.S. Discovery’s captain’s chair. The pedicabs will feature the series’ chair’s distinctive stitched black seats as well as video monitors built into its arm rests which, in this case, will screen trailers for the highly anticipated new show. As an added touch, each vehicle will display an illuminated U.S.S. Discovery delta shield on the back.
Friday, July 21 & Saturday, July 22
Fans can take part in the #TrekDiscovery Challenge when they encounter an array of authentically costumed Trek ambassadors, representing crews from five of the Star Trektelevision series (The Original Series, The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, Voyagerand Enterprise). Fans who post photos of themselves with each of the five series’ crews – and also in the Discovery captain’s chair at the Michael J. Wolf Fine Arts Gallery – and who tag all six photos with the #TrekDiscovery challenge hashtag on Twitter or Instagram, will be eligible to win a Roku streaming stick and a subscription to CBS All Access. Prizes will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. Fans can find clues regarding the location of the #TrekDiscovery crews by following @StarTrek on Twitter and Instagram.

“Knightfall: Guardians of the Gear” – July 20-23 – MLK Promenade
HISTORY is setting the stage for SDCC attendees to discover its newest drama series “Knightfall” before it premieres by offering an essential service that is new to the convention – “Knightfall: Guardians of the Gear.” The Holy Grail required protection of the Knights Templar, and SDCC attendees can count on that same protection for their own personal belongings by storing them in HISTORY’s “Knightfall: Guardians of the Gear.” Located along the MLK Promenade in the Gaslamp Quarter, our knights will guard attendees swag while they explore the rest of Comic–Con.
Additionally at the activation location, attendees will get to take a photo with the Knights Templar, watch a sneak peek of HISTORY’s newest drama series “Knightfall” and preview the Knightfall: Rivals video game on Steam Platform™, coming soon on mobile. Attendees will also be able to pick up a comic book from Titan Comics inspired by “Knightfall” entitled “Truth & Lies,” a prequel to the events in the forthcoming series that follows the Knights during the siege of the Acre in 1291 as they try to protect the most important relic in all of Christendom – the Holy Grail.
From creator and sole writer Michael Hirst (Academy Award® winning film Elizabethand the Emmy® and Golden Globe® nominated series “The Tudors”), “Vikings” is a family saga that tells the remarkable tales of the lives and epic adventures of the raiders and explorers of the Dark Ages. The last season of HISTORY’s longest-running drama series, “Vikings,” averaged 4.1 million total viewers, finishing as the #1 original series on cable on Wednesday nights (Live+7). Jonathan Rhys Meyers joins the stellar cast for season five along with Katheryn Winnick, Gustaf Skarsgard, Alexander Ludwig and Alex Høgh Andersen. Season five is slated to air later this year on HISTORY.
“Vikings” is an international Irish/Canadian co-production by World 2000 and Take 5 Productions. MGM Television serves as the worldwide distributor outside of Ireland and Canada. “Vikings” is produced in association with Corus Entertainment.
“Knightfall” follows the Knights Templar, the most powerful, wealthy and mysterious military order of the Middle Ages, entrusted with protecting Christianity’s most prized relic—the Holy Grail—and harboring secrets capable of destroying the Church itself. “Knightfall” goes deep into the inner sanctum of the clandestine world of this legendary brotherhood of warrior monks. From their battles in the Holy Land, to their clash with the King of France, to the betrayal that would ultimately lead to their tragic dissolution on Friday the 13th—a date which became synonymous with bad luck—the story of the Knights Templar has never been fully told until now. “Knightfall” takes viewers inside the world to find out who these knights were, how they lived, and what they died believing.
“Knightfall” is an A+E Studios production in association with The Combine and Midnight Radio. Don Handfield and Richard Rayner serve as creators and executive producers, with Oscar® and Golden Globe® nominee Jeremy Renner also serving as executive producer. Dominic Minghella is executive producer and showrunner. Executive producers from Midnight Radio are Jeff Pinkner, Andre Nemec, Josh Appelbaum and Scott Rosenberg. Barry Jossen and Douglas Mackinnon serve as executive producers. The drama stars Tom Cullen (“Downton Abbey”), PádraicDelaney (The Wind That Shakes the Barley, “The Tudors”), Simon Merrells(“Spartacus,” “Dominion”), Olivia Ross (War and Peace), Ed Stoppard (“The Crown”), Sabrina Bartlett (“DaVinci’s Demons”), Jim Carter (“Downton Abbey”) and Julian Ovenden (“Downton Abbey”).

So head over before going to the convention on Thursday, July 9 at 10 am with a “Don’t Go Hungry on the Way to the Con” activation which will supply visitors with a complimentary Impractical Jokers-themed breakfast (Murr-ito anyone?) until noon, then beginning at 4:00 p.m., fans will be offered bite-sized snacks after a long day of panels, before closing at 7:00 p.m.
Throughout the exhibition, fans will have an opportunity to experience themed activations each day that they will recognize from popular Impractical Jokers moments, including portraits from caricature artists, spray paint tattoos chosen randomly by a spin from the Wheel of Doom, and an interactive photo booth that will put fans alongside The Jokers. “Instead of waiting for the Smithsonian, MoMA or the Getty Center to finally launch a wing dedicated to the art of daring your best friends to embarrass themselves in public (seriously, what’s taking so long?), we decided to create the Museum of Impractical History ourselves to celebrate four successful seasons of the show and to give something back to the viewers who’ve been so supportive,” said Raymond Dooley, Vice President of Marketing at truTV. “We can’t wait for Sal, Q, Murr and Joe to invade San Diego and personally thank and reward their biggest fans with exclusive Impractical Jokers experiences just days before new episodes begin airing July 16.”

I’m so excited to check out the booth so that I can try the Gif, take photos, pitch a show idea (not sure where i’ll find the time and/or idea but what the heck) and just see how the exhibit booth will look this year! I’m going on a limb and going to say that the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will be HUGE but they have such a great roster of shows that everyone will find a beloved show from childhood … well I watch them still (but I’m a kid at heart) that they’ll want to keep as a momento!
So make sure you head over to the Nick booth and get ready to live out your cartoon geek dreams! Who knows maybe you’ll see .. wait HEAR my toon voice and see my idea on Nick!
