The season 3 premier picked up where we left off at S2 with our intrepid heroes being in a whole lot of trouble! The Expanse has amped up the problems with betrayals, love & friendship lost, lack of trust and changing alliances. The enemy of my enemy is my ‘friend’ or something like that in space!

I’m very excited that I’ve joined the Afterbuzztv The Expanse Panel with Rick Hong and Kari Lane. Rick and I chatted about the premier with Cas Anvar last Sunday and the entire panel will be chatting S3 E2 tonight at 6PM

In the 23rd century nobody can hear you scream when tossed out of an airlock or blown up in the icy darkness of space. The lack of humanity in the hardscrabble future where children can be experimented and secret test subjects for nefarious purpose (isn’t kidnapping illegal) is a reminder that human life doesn’t hold much value especially for the poor and powerless belters.

This season is still going to be all about everyone trying to live by a moral core that’s pretty shaky especially on the Rocinante with a crew who’s been betrayed. James Holden (Steven Strait) has lost his jiminey cricket whispering ‘do the right thing’ after Naomi Nagata (Dominique Tipper) decided to ignore the crew vote and give a sample of the protomolecule to Fred Johnson (Chad Coleman) so that everyone is ‘equal’ (Earth, Mars, the Belt). The repercussions has left Naomi on the outs not just from her lover but her BFF Amos Burton (Wes Chatham) who has relied on her for direction as well. It looks as if both men will have to rely on themselves and grow but right now they are both hurt and not handling it very well. Alex Kamal (Cas Anvar) is the one trying to navigate his ship ‘family’ while dealing with the emotional fallout of juggling being a husband, father and a martian while failing at all three realizing what he really wants. As well as MAJOR Queen Bee moves with Chrisjen Avasarala (Shohreh Aghdashloo) reminding everyone who’s boss (but that she should NEVER fire a gun again) and Roberta Draper (Frankie Adams) being the Marine I’d always o my six. Between the two of them getting in formation I think that Sadavir Errinwright (Shawn Doyle) better HOPE the truth doesn’t come out since neither of them are the ‘turn the other cheek’ type of women.

This was a solid premier episode that drops some major bombshells of how shifting alliances and thirst for power at all costs could lead to the death of humanity as well as who’s really a hero. As well as what we’ll chat about tonight about

Watching the last few moments of E2 looks like we have new shipmates, will they pick up the escape capsule and WHERE is the data with Sadavir Errinwright (Shawn Doyle) betrayal of Chrisjen Avasarala (Shohreh Aghdashloo)?

Leave a comment below and don’t forget to watch myself, Rick Hong and Kari Lane at 6PM on Afterbuzztv talk about The Expanse

Tune in tonight at 6PM

Image result for stan leeI’m ready to be scared for 31 Days of Horror on SyFy this October! I plan to count down the days for Stan Lee’s (The Avengers, Iron Man, Guardians of the Galaxy) original movie The Sandman on Saturday, October 14th at 9PM. Peter Sullivan (Ominous, Summoned) wrote and directed this film perfect for the spooky season produced by Hybrid.

It’s not often Stan Lee produces an original movie but he couldn’t resist The Sandman! The horror movie has an illustrious team of scary movie masters who worked with Lee, Gill Champion, Barry Barnholtz (Leprechaun), and Jeffrey Schenck (Finders Keepers, The Crooked Man).

The Image result for haylie duffSandman stars horror fan favorites Tobin Bell (the Saw films), Shaun Sipos (The Vampire Diaries, Texas Chainsaw 3D, Final Destination 2), Amanda Wyss (A Nightmare on Elm Street), Ricco Ross (Aliens) and stars Haylie Duff (Napoleon Dynamite, Material Girls) in a role that is unexpected and frightening

‘Madison’ (Shae Smolik) an 8 year old orphan is sent to live with her ‘Aunt Claire’ (Haylie Duff) a struggling artist after her father is found dead. Claire realizes Madison has a scary boogeyman friend called ‘The Sandman’ who she suspects may have killed her father and other victims across the country. ‘Valentine’ (Tobin Bell) is leading a government agency looking for Madison & ‘The Sandman’ to save or use her supernatural powers of telekinesis. Will Claire and Madison be able to save ‘The Sandman’ next victim and keep Valentine away from the child.

Are you planning to get scared by the Sandman? What’s your 31 Days of Horror looking like?

I want to head to Washington, DC for the festival to attend the talk with William Shatner as he reminisces about 50 years of Star Trek and his new book about Leonard Nimoy (Spock). How can you calculate the cost of meeting the original Captain Kirk and get to sit in the designated seating area to hear the SyFy channels panel on 12 Monkeys. Well it costs $150 and has limited availability for this exclusive book signing.

It’s been five years since SyFy premiered Haven and the twists and turns on the journey to the final episode has taken us on a crazy ride. The series based on ‘The Colorado Kid’ from Stephen King followed FBI agent Audrey Parker (Emily Rose) learning what’s going on in Haven, Maine a small town with BIG secrets. Over the years I’ve been able to interview the cast a few times and it was always such a pleasure to talk with them!

NBC is going back to 2006 with their hit science fiction drama Heroes coming back for a mini-series in 2015.  Is NBC adding to its geek program and testing the waters with a fan favorite?

All the other networks have been garnering major success with science fiction shows from CW (which I call the new Sci Fi teen network) to ABC using their own fairy tale archives to reboot fantasy on the small screen.   But NBC was the network that I grew up watching with science fiction action and comedies that kept me tuning in every week.  I may not be the perfect person pondering this new extension of (what I’m sure they are hoping will be their own Star Trek) since I never found Heroes very appealing.  I think the tagline ‘Save the Cheerleader’ left me super cold because of my being a major nerd wallflower in high school so unpopular I didn’t even get teased (totally invisible).   I had friends who LOVED the show even those who had never given a thought to any of the Star Trek series, seen Blakes 7 and thought Doctor Who was a medical drama (the horror).  Since the show  is coming back I’ll have to watch old episodes to see if I want to jump on the heroes train since I have a suspicion it will be one wild ride especially with NBC’s plans to have a digital series.  I’ve watched a couple of their online series and they are always a great way to enrich the broadcasts.

Review of Star Trek into Darkness but I won’t be seeing  you in the theater four times .. just twice!

I will not lie when I heard that Abrams was rebooting Star Trek I got worried/annoyed and well ready for disappointment especially since the cast didn’t really knock me out of my socks but I always admit when I’m wrong and I was wrong.  I LOVED the first Star Trek Jeff did so my expectations were pretty high with the new one especially with the cast addition of Benedict Cumberbatch (who I love NOT just because he’s gorgeous, has a posh British accent, stars in Sherlock .. AND he’s a great actor but mostly because he’s dreamy Brit gorgeous .. tee hee) who could be a villain or hero (he’s a villain).

I give the second film a solid ‘B’ it’s good for hardcore Trekkies (like myself) and easy to understand for those just learning about the Federation.  If you want to hear more about my thoughts on the film check out my youtube film review of Star Trek Into Darkness.

Star Trek Into Darkness

Star Trek Into Darkness

‎2hr 3min‎‎ – Rated PG-13‎‎ – Scifi/Fantasy/Action/Adventure‎

With a personal score to settle, Captain Kirk leads a manhunt to a war-zone world to capture a one man weapon of mass destruction. As our heroes are propelled into an epic chess game of life and death, love will be challenged, friendships will be torn apart, and sacrifices must be made for the only family Kirk has left: his crew.
