Cheech & Chong’s Last Movie, the fantastic documentary that tells the story of Cheech & Chong (Cheech Marin and Tommy Chong), the iconic 70s comedy duo who took their pot-smoking character personas to great heights in the film and comedy worlds, is now available to stream on VOD platforms.

Cherry the Geek TV spoke with Cheech and Chong’s Last Movie director David Bushell about the making of the documentary. Bushell, a film producer best known for films like Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Sling Blade, and Dallas Buyer’s Club, was originally attached to make a Cheech and Chong narrative reunion film. When that film fell apart, the project morphed into the documentary. “Nobody had made a definitive Cheech and Chong documentary,” Bushell said. “I said ‘Now is the time.””

The films weaves archival footage with new interviews, animated segments, and a road trip-through-the-desert conversation with the duo reminiscent of the old 80s films. Bushell talked about constructing those segments and weaving them together to tell the story.
