VARÈSE SARABANDE RECORDS ANNOUNCES KNIGHT RIDER SOUNDTRACK FEATURING REMASTERED AND NEVER BEFORE RELEASED TRACKS

“Knight Rider, a shadowy flight into the dangerous world of man who does not exist. Michael Knight, a young loner on a crusade to champion the cause of the innocent, the helpless, the powerless…..in a world of criminals who operate above the law.”

Varèse Sarabande Records has announced the release of deluxe CD and LP packages of music from the beloved original Knight Rider TV show.  Featuring incredible new artwork, these double album sets include one disc of out-of-print music and one disc of never before released tracks as selected by Knight Rider composer, Stu Phillips (Battlestar Galactica, Buck Rogers in the 25th Century, The Fall Guy, The Monkeys, Quincy and The Amazing Spider-Man).  The 2 CD package is available starting today as a 2,000-unit limited edition available only on Varesesarabande.com.  The 2 LP package was made available exclusively for Record Store Day in April and may still be available for purchase at your local record shop.

Knight Rider premiered on NBC in 1983. The series centered on Michael Long, a crimefighter who is seriously wounded during his work. Nursed back to health by a mysterious benefactor (chairman of the Knight Industries), he regains consciousness a new man with a new face and a new name: Michael Knight. His mysterious benefactor (through the guise of associate Devon Miles) provides Michael with equipment and support so that he can continue his crime fighting work. The most notable piece of equipment supplied, is “KITT”, a high-performance sports car fitted with artificial intelligence.  Knight Rider ran for four years on NBC and made stars out of David Hasselhoff and his famous car, KITT.  The theme song is one of the most memorable and loved themes from any television series.

SpongeBob’s Big Birthday Blowout Mixed Live-Action/Animated Special

For the first time SpongeBob is going LIVE this July

“Steve Hillenburg gave me the gift of a lifetime when he asked me to voice his porous alter ego, SpongeBob SquarePants.”“He changed my life and all of our lives. To reach the 20-year mark is a huge milestone and we wanted to celebrate by throwing a big party Bikini Bottom style. SpongeBob only comes up to the surface world on special occasions and this time one stop on his journey is The Trusty Slab restaurant.  Stepping on the set and acting alongside my friends and fellow cast members was a true out of body experience. Fans are truly going to love it.”

The July 12th SpongeBob SquarePants one-hour special, “SpongeBob’s Big Birthday Blowout,” will allow fans of the beloved animated series to see the voice actors play human versions of SpongeBob, Patrick, Mr. Krabs, Sandy, Squidward and Plankton. Guest stars include David Hasselhoff (Baywatch), Kel Mitchell (All That), Jack Griffo (The Thundermans) and Daniella Perkins (Knight Squad) in the new mixed live-action and animated special premiering Friday, July 12, at 7:00 p.m. (ET/PT) on Nickelodeon.

“SpongeBob’s Big Birthday Blowout,” has Patrick and SpongeBob taking a trip to the surface world, where the pair come across a few familiar faces during lunchtime rush at The Trusty Slab restaurant. Meanwhile the Bikini Bottom residents set up a surprise birthday party for SpongeBob. Along the way Hasselhoff reprises his role from The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie on an ocean kayak and on the beach in classic Baywatch style!

“I experienced the world of SpongeBob first-hand when I appeared in The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie, which was an amazing experience,” said Hasselhoff.  “After making that cameo, kids around the world recognized me from the movie. How awesome to now come back to be part of the 20th anniversary special. I got to interact with Tom Kenny and SpongeBob. It also was a heartwarming tribute to Steve Hillenburg. Happy 20th SpongeBob. Hooray!!”
