VARÈSE SARABANDE RECORDS ANNOUNCES KNIGHT RIDER SOUNDTRACK FEATURING REMASTERED AND NEVER BEFORE RELEASED TRACKS

“Knight Rider, a shadowy flight into the dangerous world of man who does not exist. Michael Knight, a young loner on a crusade to champion the cause of the innocent, the helpless, the powerless…..in a world of criminals who operate above the law.”

Varèse Sarabande Records has announced the release of deluxe CD and LP packages of music from the beloved original Knight Rider TV show.  Featuring incredible new artwork, these double album sets include one disc of out-of-print music and one disc of never before released tracks as selected by Knight Rider composer, Stu Phillips (Battlestar Galactica, Buck Rogers in the 25th Century, The Fall Guy, The Monkeys, Quincy and The Amazing Spider-Man).  The 2 CD package is available starting today as a 2,000-unit limited edition available only on Varesesarabande.com.  The 2 LP package was made available exclusively for Record Store Day in April and may still be available for purchase at your local record shop.

Knight Rider premiered on NBC in 1983. The series centered on Michael Long, a crimefighter who is seriously wounded during his work. Nursed back to health by a mysterious benefactor (chairman of the Knight Industries), he regains consciousness a new man with a new face and a new name: Michael Knight. His mysterious benefactor (through the guise of associate Devon Miles) provides Michael with equipment and support so that he can continue his crime fighting work. The most notable piece of equipment supplied, is “KITT”, a high-performance sports car fitted with artificial intelligence.  Knight Rider ran for four years on NBC and made stars out of David Hasselhoff and his famous car, KITT.  The theme song is one of the most memorable and loved themes from any television series.

Netflix Dragon Prince music will be released soon!

I was delighted with the first season of the Netflix original series ‘The Dragon Prince’ it enriched the magic of adventure, dragons and magical creatures. I am delighted that Lakeshore Records has released season one and season two soundtracks with original music from Frederik Wiedmann.  The Dragon Prince is produced by Wonderstorm and I binged season one back in September. I immediately wanted to hear the music and was on tinder hooks for season 2 (which I binged over the weekend). The series is an utter delight with the diverse characters, important message of respect of life, respect for others, and intellectual curiosity.

“The Dragon Prince provides a wonderful canvas for me to explore a very colorful musical pallet. We wanted to give this world its own identity, so we decided to blend various ethnic and unorthodox instruments with a conventional orchestral sound. The use of a variety of live instruments was key to this, so we spent a great deal of time recording soloists all across the series, and for some parts we recorded a 40 Piece string orchestra for important scenes that needed it. It’s been an absolute privilege to get to work on a series such as The Dragon Prince, a show so full of heart, imagination and excitement”. – Frederik Wiedmann

Lakeshore Records will release The Dragon Prince Season 1 and Season 2 Original Series Soundtrack digitally on February 22 for fans of all ages.

You may not know the Emmy-award winning Frederik Wiedmann but he is a composer you’ve ‘heard’ of before. His work as an artist delights the ear as it enriches movies and tv series. Frederik’s work on the hit Netflix animated fantasy series The Dragon Prince, Disney Junior show Miles from Tomorrowland, 2016 Daytime Emmy Award for the original song “True Bromance” from DreamWorks Animation’s Madagascar spinoff All Hail King JulianHangman (directed by Johnny Martin), Green Lantern: The Animated Series (earned him two Annie Awards nominations), Field of Lost Shoes (directed by Sean McNamara), and two projects for Millennium Films: Acts of Vengeance and Day of the Dead: Bloodline. Frederik’s library of work can be heard in a variety of genres and able to evoke numerous emotions.
