The 2025 Tribeca Film Festival is currently running in New York City and Cherry the Geek TV is here with coverage of some of the great films making up this year’s festival.
Lemonade Blessing is a FANTASTIC film. Jake Ryan stars as John, a teen still affected by trauma stemming from the divorce of his parents, who is tossed into a private Catholic school by his devout mother. There he meets Lilith (Skye Alyssa Friedman), a devious atheist classmate who is ready to push his faith (and morals) to the brink with a series of increasingly uncomfortable actions all in the name of love.
This is writer/director Chris Merola’s first feature film and he knocks it out of the park. He perfectly weaves a raunchy teen sex comedy (that is genuinely funny) with a deeply, soulful look at how trauma affects children and parents in different ways.
Cherry the Geek TV spoke with Merola about the genesis of the film and how he blends the “skin” of the film (the teen sex comedy) with the “soul” (the trauma drama). You can watch the full interview below:
