Did I tell you I’m a gamer chick now?
I’m sheltering at home and am one of the lucky people who found a Nintendo Switch <yahoo> but it’s been a while since I have a gaming system.
I got my game as a total fluke I’d been stalking Target.com to see if a Nintendo Switch or Nintendo Switch light came up. What with Covid19 manufacturing is at a standstill so they are as hard to find as good cheat auto insurance. I saw that a Target in Pasadena had ONE so I tried to order online (no go), tried to call (nobody picked up the line), and well I thought I’d test my luck. So did a bunch of other people and the staff said they had none in stock. I worked at Target back in college so on the way out I asked if anyone had RETURNED a Nintendo Switch and the customer service person said yes a little over an hour ago. That it was on a return cart somewhere in the store. So I waited by the staff till the return cart came by and snatched it up like a jaguar! I was SOOO excited that I bought ACNH on the spot! I was so surprised when I realized it cost almost $60 and NOT on sale <wah wah> but I had to have a game so <take my money>!
Now that I have a Nintendo Switch I HAVE to have games but <yikes> I got MAJOR sticker shock when realized games are darned expensive! So I just have had one game since I got it but I really want to ‘play with friends’. But before I make that investment I have a few steps! I wanted to make sure a game was fun so looked up reviews, asked my friends what they were playing and if they liked the games. Now I’ve played games all my life but will always have a softspat for playing at the arcade. I have a weakness for zombie shooter games (I know what I like and it’s killing zombies!) and have always enjoyed the hum of other people playing and talking so want to replicate that feeling at home.
Turns out that everyone LOVES Mario games (which makes sense considering how many they have) so thought I’d pick one up but didn’t want to pay full price. I’m on a tight budget and needed a coupon or two. I did a google search and found Slickdeals. They have coupons and discount codes for retailers but decided I’d used GameStop since I know they have new and used games with an extensive selection.
It has opened a brand new world for this frugal Fanny and the site is pretty simple to use. You can search by kind of offer and when you click directs you to the site where you can buy either a digital or hardcopy with a code. So am expanding my Nintendo Switch Library so much am planning to buy a case to keep all of it safe and in one place!
Love being a gamer chick with a handheld system that helps with distraction to keep my mind busy. I think that I’ll try some of the puzzle games to ‘exercise’ my brain and just get moving with ‘Just Dance’ it’s one of my all time favorites that I had back with my OG Xbox system (oops I’m dating myself ha ha).
