Morgan FreemanI saw that Autism speak is having a fundraiser with celebrities donating a custom recorded message for $299.  I can’t believe that I can have Carrie Fisher (Princess Leia), Leonard Nimoy (Spock), William Shatner (Captain Kirk), Patrick Stewart (Captain Picard) OR Morgan Freeman (God) are some of the celebrities that I could have record my VM.  Hmmm so many beloved science fiction voices that I’m TORN .. TORN!!! Star Wars, Star Trek or God???  I can’t choose!  I’m lying I’d have to go for Spock or Captain Kirk or Picard to record my voicemail .. hmmm what would I have him say?  You can only purchase the Celebrity message from December 3 – 9, 2012. Fans can register online at SoundOffForAutismSpeaks.com to receive a reminder just prior to the December 3 campaign kickoff.

A limited number of messages will be available from each celebrity on a first come, first served basis. Fans will have the unique opportunity to specify what they want their chosen celebrity to say in the message. Autism Speaks® will send fans a digital file of their message within a few weeks of their order, once it has been recorded by their celebrity.  You may wonder how they got this star studded list well it helps to have Ed Asner be your dad! <tee hee>.  “I got together with my son Matt (Autism Speaks’ Executive Director for Southern California) and we talked about what my friends and I could do to support the important work of Autism Speaks,” said Ed Asner, who is currently starring on Broadway in “Grace.” “We decided that bringing together a group of celebrities with great voices and doing a kind of ‘voiceathon’ would be a really fun idea that could help individuals with autism and their families.”

About Autism
Autism is a general term used to describe a group of complex developmental brain disorders – autism spectrum disorders – caused by a combination of genes and environmental influences. These disorders are characterized, in varying degrees, by communication difficulties, social and behavioral challenges, as well as repetitive behaviors. An estimated 1 in 88 children in the U.S. is on the autism spectrum – a 78 percent increase in six years that is only partly explained by improved diagnosis.
