Exclusive interview with Bruce Campbell and Lucy Lawless about Ash vs Evil Dead

Spread the love

IMG_9607I’ve been a fan of the Evil Dead universe since being terrorized by the Evil Dead back in 1981 so when I heard rumors that Sam Raimi, Rob Tapert and Bruce Campbell were in talks with Starz for a new series I got FanGirl-Itiz. I followed Bruce to learn tidbits and when I heard that they’d be at the 2015 San Diego Comic Con well I got crazy. I begged to be included in the press room but sadly got a ‘no go’ it was overbooked. I took comfort that I was able to cover Outlander but the thought that Bruce Campbell was going to be in the same city as me talking about Ash but I couldn’t go well I was very disappointed.

IMG_9647So imagine my surprise when I was walking to the Outlander pressroom that I saw THIS! Of COURSE I had to be a dork and take a photo with my guys! I suppose it was a little obvious that I love Bruce, Lucy and of course Sam so when the PR person at Outlander told me the Ash vs Evil Dead was starting right after that one I had to be a fangirl and hang out in the hall in hopes of seeing my horror gods.

Lucy Lawless and CherryWell the press person saw me and asked if I was on the list and (being honest) told her I’d been turned down but wanted to see if they have room. If not I was just happy for my photo with the poster and I’d leave. So imagine my pleasure when she made room for me! Tee hee I was so nervous and excited that I bounced like a kangaroo. But I was able to briefly interview Bruce Campbell AND Lucy Lawless who are both charming AND funny! Check out my EXCLUSIVE interview with Bruce Campbell & Lucy Lawless at the 2015 San Diego Comic Con

IMG_9609Ash vs Evil Dead is currently in production in New Zealand it’s the series from the classic horror film franchise The Evil Dead and will premier on STARZ Fall 2015. The first season will be a half hour 10-episodes series. It will star Bruce Campbell reprising his role as Ash and introduces Lucy Lawless (Ruby) as his arch nemesis. The executive producers are Sam Raimi, Rob Tapert and Bruce Campbell who are the original filmmakers of the franchise and Craig DiGregorio will be the executive producer and show runner of the new series on STARZ.

The series is taking place 30 years after the final film where Ash is well being Ash. He’s still working a dead-end job keeping his head down as a stockboy (man), is still trying to mack the ladies and is a chainsaw-handed monster hunter who’s avoided responsibility for the last 30 years for the Evil Dead terrors that he and his friends released upon the world. Now that a Deadite plague threatens to destroy all of humanity Ash will have to face his demons personally and literally as they walk the earth. Destiny won’t release her icy grip from Ash as he’s forced to face his demons and be a hero rather he wants to or not!

The series will star Bruce Campbell (Evil Dead, “Burn Notice”) in the role of Ash Williams, Lucy Lawless (“Salem,” “Spartacus”) as Ruby a mysterious figure who believes Ash is the cause of the Evil outbreaks, Ray Santiago (“Touch,” Meet the Fockers) as Pablo Simon Bolivar, an idealistic immigrant who becomes Ash’s loyal sidekick, Dana DeLorenzo (A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas) as Kelly Maxwell, a moody wild child trying to outrun her past and Jill Marie Jones (“Sleepy Hollow”) as Amanda Fisher, a disgraced Michigan State Trooper set to find our anti-hero Ash and prove his responsibility in the grisly murder of her partner.
